THE CHALLENGE

PNL Dance Co is an Ottawa-based professional dance team with over 15 years of history. They needed group photos of their 20-person team, as well as individual portraits of each dancer, that would represent their unique styles and professionalism. The vision: Y2K futurism with a metallic and icy blue colour palette that felt both nostalgic and cutting-edge.

THE PROCESS

I worked closely with the team's co-directors to bring this concept to life. We started with a planning call to nail down their visual goals, then structured the shoot day with dedicated time slots so each dancer could shine in their individual portraits. On set, I kept the approach straightforward: three strobes and a clean white backdrop. The real transformation happened in post-production, where I meticulously colour-graded each image to achieve that icy blue, Y2K futuristic glow. The challenge wasn't just adding colour. It was ensuring the metallic tones and cool palette felt intentional and cohesive across 50+ images, with each dancer's skin tones balanced while maintaining that signature aesthetic.

THE RESULT

The team’s reaction said it all: “These look amazing and you really did that!!!! Thank you so much for your work and expertise! You curated an organized, fun process and environment with such care at every step, and we are so grateful.” These photos now serve as PNL's visual identity across their marketing materials, images that finally match their 15+ years of talent and style.
